Summer Accelerates

For his Eagle project, Alex V. planned and led the construction of an inspirational garden on the grounds of our gracious hosts. Hans S. and Finn W. are also well on their way toward completing projects out at the new forestry museum and the Pea’s Farm respectively.

As we approach summer’s midpoint, Troop 1911 Scouts have been staying busier than ever. At least three Eagle Scout projects have recently been underway, a number of dedicated Scouts are hiking their way to Hiking Merit Badge, the troop helped host a group of Eagle Scouts bicycling across the country, and at least one Scout joined local Girl Scouts and Brownies in a July 4th Flag Ceremony at Carus Park—all this as various 1911 Scouts prepare for Melita Island, Philmont, and at least three upcoming camping trips. Not only did the troop make great progress getting the shed cleaned out recently, they discovered artifacts of some of earth’s earliest human civilizations. Negotiations are underway with the Smithsonian as I write this.
Troop 1911 Scouts enjoy a ten-mile hike up the spectacular Blodgett Canyon trail on June 30. Thank you Lance for leading this!
These boots are made for hiking! With the completion of the Blodgett Canyon hike, participating Scouts need only complete the 15-mile and grueling 20-mile hikes to complete their merit badge hikes. Sing it Bon Jovi!
